La Cuadrilla<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0es una comunidad rural de 584 habitantes (censo INEGI 2020) en 142 viviendas. Menos de la mitad de las viviendas tienen retretes o instalaciones sanitarias. El nivel medio de escolaridad es de 7 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Esmeralda<\/strong>, una de nuestras beneficiarias en esta comunidad, es una madre de 29 a\u00f1os con dos ni\u00f1os de uno y cuatro a\u00f1os.<\/p>

Ella y su esposo apenas sobreviven con menos de $10 al d\u00eda que ganan trabajando en un invernadero cercano.<\/strong>\u00a0Trabajan seis d\u00edas a la semana desde el amanecer hasta el anochecer.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Ella es una de las miles que hacen fila cada dos semanas para recibir una bolsa de alimentos de Feed the Hungry. Estos suministros ofrecen una buena variedad de alimentos para brindar nutrici\u00f3n a toda la familia. Ella tambi\u00e9n participa en nuestro programa de Nutrici\u00f3n para la Primera Infancia, que brinda sustento a ni\u00f1os que han sido destetados pero que a\u00fan no est\u00e1n en la escuela. Adem\u00e1s de proporcionar comidas tanto a las madres como a sus hijos, el programa est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ado para diagnosticar y monitorear las condiciones de los ni\u00f1os, as\u00ed como educar a las madres sobre la nutrici\u00f3n adecuada a trav\u00e9s de talleres informativos.<\/p>

Esmeralda y sus hijos presentan condiciones de desnutrici\u00f3n. Est\u00e1 sorprendida de que su beb\u00e9 coma tanto y, sin embargo, tenga un peso inferior al normal. Se ha comprometido a seguir las instrucciones de cocina y recetas de nuestros chefs y nutricionistas durante seis meses, y esperamos que con la comida y la educaci\u00f3n que brindamos, tanto ella como sus hijos se vuelvan m\u00e1s saludables.<\/p>

Ella depende de la bolsa de alimentos de Feed the Hungry para granos y prote\u00ednas de origen vegetal. Ella, como muchos de sus vecinos, rara vez puede darse el lujo de comer prote\u00ednas de origen animal. Ella no tiene refrigerador. El gas propano es caro, por lo que cocina con le\u00f1a cuando no puede comprar gas. Su jefe en el invernadero permite que ella y sus compa\u00f1eros de trabajo recojan los \u201cquelites\u201d para llevar a casa para alimentar a sus hijos como fuente de hierro. Quelites es una palabra n\u00e1huatl que significa \u201chierba comestible\u201d; crecen donde hay mucho riego.<\/p>

Actualmente hay 20 madres y 23 infantes que se benefician del programa de Nutrici\u00f3n Infantil en La Cuadrilla.<\/strong>\u00a0Y hasta el cierre de las escuelas en 2020 por la pandemia del COVID-19, la Feed the Hungry serv\u00eda 115 comidas diarias a los alumnos de k\u00ednder y primaria, as\u00ed como a los adolescentes que asisten a la telesecundaria. Esperamos volver a proporcionar almuerzos calientes all\u00ed cuando las clases vuelvan a su horario normal y podamos reabrir la cocina de la escuela.\u00a0Contin\u00fae apoyando nuestra misi\u00f3n para que familias como la de Esmeralda tengan alimentos nutritivos para sostenerse.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
