Feed the Hungry San Miguel, Inc. Announces Leadership Transition

Darryl “Blue” Blueitt Appointed President

During last December’s monthly board meeting, Darryl “Blue” Blueitt was elected by the full board as the new President of Feed the Hungry San Miguel, Inc., succeeding Mike Taylor, who completed his three-year term as President.

During his tenure, Mike oversaw the expansion of Feed the Hungry’s mission to address food insecurity for nearly 5,000 children per day across 51 schools and community programs throughout the region, extending well beyond San Miguel de Allende. Under his leadership, Feed the Hungry hired a critically needed Executive Director, Verónica Agundis; migrated to a new ERP system; strengthened corporate governance; and completed multiple capital projects. Mike’s efforts leave behind a stronger, more agile organization supported by a highly organized and empowered leadership team with ambitious goals for 2026.

“Serving this organization has been one of the greatest privileges of my life,” said Mike Taylor. “I have had the opportunity to closely know the communities, schools, families, and generous supporters who make this work possible. While I am concluding my role as President, I will continue serving on the Board to support an orderly transition and continued institutional strengthening.”

Reflecting on his appointment, Blue stated, “It is a great honor to serve the children and their families here in Mexico as President of Feed the Hungry San Miguel. Continuing the work of Mike Taylor is no easy task, but I am encouraged to be part of such a strong organization, truly a family, that has earned the respect and trust of the communities it serves. All of this is made possible by the generous community in San Miguel de Allende and by supporters both locally and abroad.”

Paola Juárez, President of Feed the Hungry A.C., added, “I am truly excited to work alongside Blue and to continue strengthening this great family that is Feed the Hungry. Our collaborative model between Feed the Hungry San Miguel, Inc., which leads fundraising efforts, and Feed the Hungry A.C., which operates programs on the ground, allows us to maximize impact, transparency, and close relationships with the communities we serve. I am confident that together we will continue to grow and serve even more children.”

Blue began supporting Feed the Hungry as a volunteer in January 2024 after being introduced to the organization and visiting a Feed the Hungry school kitchen led by fellow board members Elizabeth Dietz and Mike Taylor. He later joined the Feed the Hungry San Miguel, Inc. Board in December 2024. Blue is a retired aerospace and defense executive who has long been committed to serving those in need. He and his wife, Elizabeth, who recently retired, look forward to continuing their service to children and families throughout the San Miguel de Allende region.

Blue concluded, “Feed the Hungry is truly a collective family of dedicated staff, caring volunteers, and generous donors. We all love what we do.”
